Senate of Canada
- Senate of Canada
We want to attract the best talent to shape our vibrant and diverse workforce. Our employees are united by shared values and a deep commitment to parliamentary service.
The Senate plays a unique role in Canada. As members of the upper house of Parliament, senators examine legislation, study public policy, champion causes and conduct interparliamentary diplomacy. Senators come from all walks of life in Canada, representing our nation’s diverse talents, backgrounds and perspectives.
Behind the scenes is an infrastructure of professional and dedicated employees. Senate personnel work primarily in Ottawa but are drawn from the various regions of Canada. They come from a variety of backgrounds and skill levels. Each person, in each role, supports senators in their work, directly or indirectly. Each contributes by delivering professional advice, products, information, services or support.
Everyone has the opportunity to join us and fulfill their potential with us. We are committed to promoting and maintaining an inclusive workforce; one that is skilled and reflective of Canadian society. This includes the equitable representation of women, aboriginal peoples, persons with disabilities, and members of visible minority groups. These are some of the standards we set for ourselves, and we regularly review our processes to ensure that they are achieved.
