The Paralegal will provide support to Investigators, Case Assessment Officers, Managers, Senior Counsel Strategic and External Relations. 

The work also requires contact with the other departments within the organization as well as external contacts with various stakeholders. 

Key Responsibilities:
Vetting and preparing disclosure materials in anticipation of a contested hearing 
Assisting EC with the preparation of hearing Books of Documents and other legal documents (e.g. compendiums, settlement hearing books, motion materials, affidavits, appeal records) 
Preparation of witness lists and will says; 
Conducting basic legal research 
Assisting investigators with the intake of documents received at the investigative stage, including electronic scanning and organization. 
Compose and proof-read correspondence and documents; 
Handle confidential information discreetly; 
Legislative, Regulatory and Jurisprudential Research (Canada and Other Jurisdictions) 
Regulatory and legislative scrutiny (Canada and other jurisdictions) 
Set up and arrange for room reservations; 
Administrative duties as required 
Manage subcommittee meetings (correspondence, preparation of presentation and agendas, minutes and reports as required. 

Graduate of an accredited paralegal program 
Completion of the Canadian Securities Course and Conduct and Practices Handbook Exam are considered assets 
Minimum 2 years of paralegal experience, in either a litigation environment (either in a law firm or regulatory organization). 
Experience with the operation of investment dealers and the securities markets, sales practices and rules/regulations of the securities industry would be an asset. 

Key Skills and Competencies:
Strong proficiency in MS Office 
The ability to multi-task and handle large volume document files. 
Experience in conducting electronic legal research (such as Lexis/Nexis). 
Proficiency in e-document management software. 
Ability to deal with confidential information in a sensitive manner 
Excellent spelling, grammar and proofreading skills 
Strong time management skills, including ability to prioritize effectively 
Ability to take initiative and perform independently with minimal supervision 
Team-player with demonstrated customer service orientation 
Knowledge of the Canadian securities industry would be an asset
