As Legal Counsel you bring your senior-level directly legal experience, educational credentials, confidence and business-savvy that will benefit our Canadian projects. Your applicable and relevant background enables you to transition into this in-house workstream with minimal managerial supervision. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice-President, Legal,  Canada, your office will be situated in SNC-Lavalin`s offices  situated in the financial heart of downtown Vancouver in beautiful British Columbia.


Your transferrable background enables you to self-assuredly advise the corporation’s various business units,  across all markets, with respect to all legal matters or contracts relating to engineering / construction, major procurements, including public-private partnership projects , EPC projects and other engineering or construction project variants. You will also bring to the table the ability to adeptly advise on a multitude of other types of agreements that are typical of a leading professional services and project management corporation and related legal issues with clients, partners, affiliates, subcontractors and suppliers in the infrastructure sector.


Your skill set includes:

  • Core in-house contracts skills – understand, advising, allocating risk appropriately, approvals, drafting, negotiation, contract management.
  • A solid understanding of the role of Legal within a leading engineering and construction business, appropriate risk allocations, and a well-developed commercial, practical and strategic business and legal sense.
  • Excellent file and time management skills.
  • Pro-active, ethical, business-minded and out-of-the-box thinking.
  • Ability to digest and synthesize complex contractual documentation.
  • Persuasive and well-honed communication and negotiation skills.


You will need to be a member in good standing of the Law Society of British Columbia, and have been qualified to practice law in Canada for probably 7 or more years.

Guided by your trusty moral compass, you have the ability to provide timely and sound legal advice, and work as part of a team, in an intellectually challenging, fluid-paced and multidisciplinary environment.

You are excited by SNC-Lavalin`s wide variety of projects, including our multi-billion dollar megaprojects. You are also self-motivated, with a commercial, practical, methodical, detail-oriented, flexible and dynamic approach to the work of in-house counsel.

Your background is in commercial, engineering or construction law areas, but if your background is divergent you can persuasively show alignment to the requirements of this position nonetheless.

You would be okay with some degree of travel in this position, mainly in Canada.
