Contracts Administrator/Procurement Director

Wood is currently recruiting for a Contracts Administrator/Procurement Director. The Contracts Administrator / Procurement Director is responsible for the administration of construction contracts and procurement efforts related to equipment purchasing. The Contracts Administrator will support the project team in the preparation of the Contract Strategy or Plan and all aspects of pre- and post-award of the project Contracts. This position requires travelling between the region of Montreal and Côte-Nord. Key Responsibilities


  • Validation of the contractual templates with the legal department and the project group
  • Definition of the clauses to be included in the contracts according to the nature of the contracts in order to make the suppliers liable
  • Refinement of the divisional structure of procurement and construction packages/contracts with the project engineering team
  • Review of the scope of work of the various purchase and construction packages
  • Review of hardware specifications to minimize the addition of un-coded material
  • Definition / revision of tender lists for each lot of purchase or construction
  • Assembly and issuance of RFI if applicable
  • Assembly and transmission of RFTs
  • Assembly and issuance of RFQs (including engineering documents, price schedules, instructions to tenderers, T & Cs, etc.)
  • Receiving submissions
  • Participation in the clarifications potentially required following the issuance of RFQ with engineering team
  • Participation in analyzes and technical recommendations of the submissions
  • Issuing commercial recommendations
  • Monitoring and status reports of RFQs and POs awarded per batch
  • Preparation of progress reports on procurement activities
  • Issuance of RACs
  • Negotiation of contracts
  • Granting of contracts (PO and Contract); this also includes:
    • Track deliverables for purchase lots
    • Production of weekly reports on pre- and post-contract award activities
    • Project control and progress reports on procurement

Skills / Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills both French and English
  • Ability to administer contracts $5M - $40M in size
  • At least 10 years of experience as a Contracts Administrator on site-based construction projects (preference given to people with Mining & Minerals experience)
  • Familiarity with the structure of construction contracts including service and consultant agreements/contracts
  • Ability to breakdown contract Schedule "As" into a framework to be used as a progress construction monitoring tool
  • Familiar with unit price, time & materials and lump sum contracts
  • Familiar with Work breakdown Structures (WBS) and their application when developing/using progress monitoring
  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on MS Office applications, including data base manipulation
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work in a team environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada for any employer
