Reporting to the General Counsel, ATS Automation's Corporate legal team is seeking an R&D Counsel.
To develop and implement a global IP program, addressing strategy, development, capture, and leveraging of IP across all industry segments that ATS serves. As part of this mandate, the role will be an integral part of the ATS Innovation Centre (“AIC”), influencing strategy and direction.
Responsibilities of this role will include:
Working with business leaders to set and implement appropriate IP strategies to achieve business objectives
Fostering a strong IP program by:
contributing to the through patent landscape analysis, monitoring of market trends, etc.;
fostering through inventor recognition programs, internal communications, etc.;
promoting the as part the ATS culture through site visits, invention disclosure processes, patent mining sessions, etc.;
developing an appropriate education and communication program company-wide;
developing KPIs and metrics to monitor impact and success;
supporting the of IP through educating the sales force on areas of competitive advantage (i.e. protected IP), assisting with marketing materials, regularly meeting with senior management;
continuously assessing market technology in order to educate the sales force on our competitive advantage and to assist the innovation group in strategy development; and
visiting locations across the globe and proactively educating and working with local technical people to develop, identify, protect and leverage IP;
A robust internal education, communication, and reach out program will be key contributors to maintaining this as part of our culture
