The work of each department varies in their collective effort to advance the OSC’s mandate. Learn more about department mandates.
Your work might include the following:
Representing Staff in written or oral administrative proceedings.
Assessing compliance with securities law and making practical and constructive recommendations for improvement.
Reviewing exemptive relief applications, drafting orders and making recommendations to the decision-maker.
Considering investor protection issues, assessing product disclosure and considering applications for discretionary relief. Reviewing prospectus offerings that may involve novel or complex issues, and drafting orders and recommendation memorandums.
Providing in-house legal, policy and risk management advice in a wide range of areas and rendering legal opinions on challenging matters such as Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, procurement and contracts.
Conducting investigations into potential breaches of Ontario securities law and providing legal advice and guidance to staff members.
Conducting administrative hearings, organizing disclosure, and drafting proceeding documents and liaising with counsel for respondents to proceedings.
Perform in-depth reviews of registrant conduct matters, recommend appropriate regulatory action to address the findings of those reviews and, where necessary, represent Staff in written or oral administrative proceedings.
