Reporting to the SVP & General Counsel, the Contracts Manager will be responsible for creating and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and negotiating contracts. The successful candidate will be responsible for contract close-out, extension and renewal and communicating contractual changes to key stakeholders. The Contracts Manager will be required to address and resolve contractual issues by applying their extensive knowledge and dispute resolution techniques.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Manage all contract activity including the review, negotiation, drafting, and interpretation of contractual agreements
  • Identify contractual risks with the ability to address and resolve complex issues as they arise
  • Apply dispute resolution techniques with relevant clients, stakeholders and third-party vendors
  • Reviews requests for proposals and identify risks and terms which may not conform with Company policy
  • Ensure proper handling of contracts, support documentation and related files
  • Prepare and communicate change directives, and amending agreements with internal and external stakeholders
  • Engage with stakeholders involved in the negotiations, formation and administration of the contract process

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Proactively communicate with clients and develop and maintain a trusted relationship throughout the process
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities, as well as a high level of energy and ability to provide an exceptional level of customer service to internal and external clients
  • Self-motivated, articulate individual who possesses strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the Organization
  • Strong legal skills, including excellent drafting, negotiation and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of contract terminology, practices and concepts
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

 

  • 5-10 years of extensive contracts management experience with a strong focus on contractual interpretation, dispute resolution and strategic planning
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business Administration, Commerce, Law or related field
  • Experience drafting and coordinating all activities involved in the administration of contract agreements
  • Experience in highly regulated environments is considered a strong asset (i.e. cannabis, liquor, tobacco, and pharmaceutical)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
