OTT Group of Companies (OTT) is a leading financial services provider in Canada operating multiple lines of business including investment brokerage, asset management, forex, real estate investment, and our cutting-edge mobile payment business. 
We are seeking an experienced In-house Legal Counsel to work closely with the management of our payment business and/or money service business to draft and negotiate commercial agreements, review internal policies and procedures from legal perspective, interpret applicable laws and regulations, and provide legal advice on business operations. 

 

Responsibilities: 
• Lead, in tandem with product/project manager, marketing, and sales, the development of contractual arrangements between the company and its customers and/or suppliers

• Respond to inquiries from customers, suppliers, partners, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community regarding legal requirements

• Draft and review internal policies and procedures to support business operation

• Monitor and foster legal compliance by liaising with internal business units

• Research and interpret laws and regulations applicable to current business and new offerings

• Inform management on the development of regulatory trends and their impact on business operations and recommend courses of action

• Represent the company at meetings with regulators, public and private organizations

• Provide legal guidance and support on corporate policy and governance matters

• Coordinate external legal resources when needed

• Ad-hoc responsibilities that are required from time to time

 

Key Skills and Qualifications: 
• Law degree (LLB/JD); member of Law Society of Upper Canada

• Solid understanding of payment business, merchants services, and/or money service business

• Demonstrated ability to provide practical legal advice in a business environment

• 5+ years’ experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts

• Excellent judgment, logical thinking, and analytical skills

• Excellent written skills to ensure a proper level of professionalism in external communication

• Demonstrated ability to prioritize, work under pressure, work as a flexible team player

• Must be fluent in English. Fluency in other languages will be an asset
