Legal Assistant - Litigation / Labour and Employment Law (Legal Services)

As a Legal Assistant, your primary objective will be to provide administrative assistance and clerical support to legal counsel as well as in Labour and Employment Law in our Montreal office.
More specifically, you will coordinate office activities, as well as establish priorities and urgent procedures for legal counsel. You will provide assistance throughout all stages of legal proceedings, compile basic data to facilitate requests for information. You will prepare, send and follow up on all procedures and case documents with the parties involved, including serving and filing with the various Courts and ensuring that deadlines are met. You will maintain agendas; arrange meetings, travel and conference calls; and fill out expense accounts and keep copies. You will also type, review, copyedit and carefully proofread a variety of documents as weel as all other tasks associated with a legal assistant position. You will also be called upon to provide assistance to the Health and Safety in Montreal.
Please note that this is a 1 year temporary position.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
- Attestation of Vocational Specialization (AVS) as a Legal Secretary and/or one (1) to three (3) years’ relevant experience as a legal secretary and/or legal assistant in labour and employment law or litigation matters.
- Very good knowledge of the Windows environment.
- Good knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and email.
- Superior French-language skills (spoken and written).
- Good knowledge of English (spoken and written).
- Organization skills.
- Interpersonal skills, diplomacy and courtesy.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to be thorough, detail-oriented and maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times.
