Paralegal - Real Estate

One of Western Canada’s largest and fastest growing real estate development and property management companies is currently seeking a talented Paralegal to join their Commercial Leasing team.  The successful candidate will work closely with the all aspects of the commercial leasing departments.  

Job Description:

The successful candidate will assist the Leasing Departments across the traditional boundaries of the commercial leasing industry. Duties will include:

  • Drafting Commercial Real Estate agreements such as Leases, Licenses, Amending Agreements, Easements, Encroachments, Consents, Assignments, and Subleases
  • Negotiating with tenants to finalize agreements in accordance with company compliance standards
  • Tracking key lease dates and effectively following up on time-sensitive matters
  • Assisting the Leasing and Property Management teams in lease interpretation
  • Performing LTSA (Land Title) searches, registrations and monitoring
  • Conducting supervised legal and Land Title research
  • Drafting Indemnity agreements, guarantor agreements, estoppel agreements and negotiating Letter of credits forms.
  • Training Property Assistants on the department’s documentation process and database tracking systems
  • Generating monthly reports to reflect department’s document turnaround time, efficiency and performance
  • Maintaining a complete, reliable and organized filing system


Summary of Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Legal Administrative Assistant or Paralegal certification
  • 3+ years working in Commercial Real Estate as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal
  • This position requires a highly motivated, self-starter with excellent communication (both written and oral), time management and organizational skills, as well as the ability to anticipate needs and adapt to changing priorities and daily demands
  • Proficiency in office technology (including Microsoft Office applications)
  • Excellent planning, organizational and follow-up skills
