Legal Assistant

Our client, a well-respected law firm with a presence across Canada seeks a Legal Assistant to support a busy team of Lawyers throughout multiple departments, in their Downtown Toronto office. As a Legal Assistant, you will provide general administrative support, monitor calendars and correspondence, and draft/revise legal documents. If you are an enthusiastic Legal Assistant with excellent organizational skills and experience in supporting lawyers in a high energy environment, then we would like to hear from you!!

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and prepare calendars for appointments and arrange for travel arrangements
  • Filter incoming calls and mail and follow up on requests
  • Draft/revise/proofread legal documents and correspondence
  • Coordinate all travel arrangements, including air, hotel, ground transportation and meal reservations
  • Schedule, organize and prepare/coordinate materials for meetings/trials (presentations, reports, etc.)
  • Ensure follow-up on activities, files and outstanding items with direct reports
  • Filter incoming calls and mail and follow up on requests
  • Prioritize and adjust priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience as a Legal Assistant (open to all practice areas)
  • Post-secondary education
  • Strong judgement and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently
  • Excellent ability to work well under pressure and multi-task, in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Outstanding organizational skills with superior attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a professional and positive attitude
