Reporting to the Vice-President, Legal Affairs and General Counsel, the Senior Lawyer provides strategic legal direction to management in various functions within Sandoz Canada. The incumbent will provide counsel on complex legal and business issues for the generic pharmaceutical business and will advise his/her internal clients in a way that advances the company’s strategy while addressing legal/regulatory business risks and preserving/protecting the company’s integrity and reputation. Main tasks will include:

• Analyze and provide input on a variety of complex legal mandates as assigned by the Director, including but not limited to negotiating, drafting and reviewing development, manufacturing, licensing and supply agreements, as well as contracts involving intellectual property rights and other matters.

• Supports the Vice-President, Legal Affairs and General Counsel in the development of business and legal strategies.
o Will be a reference for other colleagues within his areas of expertise.
o Provides legal advice and effective support in the day-to-day activities of the various operating units within the company (and in particular BD&L, Mergers & Acquisitions, Sales -Specialty Products and Biopharmaceuticals). 

• Play a leading role in risk management within the organization and is involved in files that can have a critical impact on the company. Is able to use his or her leadership and soft skills to influence decisions and outcomes even if he or she does not have any supervisory powers over other people.

Minimum requirements

Bachelor's degree with professional accreditation (law, bar association); 
Minimum of ten to fifteen (10 to 15) years of experience in Commercial Law, ideally in the pharmaceutical industry, supporting the Business Development and Licensing function;
Customer focus and drive for results;
Good knowledge of MS Office Suite;
Excellent level of written and spoken French and English.
