Our Transaction Services and Corporate Legal division provides professional support to all parts of the organization through the services it provides, including legal and transaction finance. Lawyers within the team specialize in services that support infrastructure and commercial projects, real estate and leasing, lending, privacy, government affairs, litigation, construction, and contract management.
As part of the Real Estate Management & Litigation team, this role will provide high-quality legal advice, research, opinions and service to internal clients on construction, asset management, contract management and procurement matters impacting the Realty Portfolio. The individual will be responsible for providing legal advice to Infrastructure Ontario executives and business units to support decision making, ensuring corporate compliance with current legislation and Infrastructure Ontario policies and procedures, providing legal transaction support to internal stakeholders and providing Litigation support to Business Units.
We are seeking an individual with a minimum of four years of experience practicing law, preferably in the areas of corporate, commercial, construction, contracts, asset management, and procurement. The ideal candidate will also have a University degree in Law (LLB) and membership in good standing with the Law Society of Upper Canada and knowledge of construction law, procurement, asset management and contract management. Knowledge of the litigation process would be considered an asset.
To be successful at IO, the ideal candidate will be highly competent, diligent, analytical and precise, have excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills, have the ability to communicate complex legal issues in a clear manner to non-legal audiences, have the ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing priorities and the ability to understand business issues quickly, exercise good judgment in providing timely and practical legal advice and work effectively in a team-based environment.
