This is a 2 year (possibly 3 year) contract positon

Job Summary:

The forward-thinking Legal Services Branch provides expert, timely and responsive legal counsel to every division of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. We are currently seeking a Commercial Lawyer with a strong information technology background to assist us for 2 (possibly 3) years as we support the WSIB’s digital transformation project. Public procurement experience is a definite asset.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Review, draft and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including, hardware, software, cloud and service-acquisition contracts
  • Provide support through the entire procurement process
  • Identify opportunities to make processes more efficient and effective
  • Assist in the development of templates and tools

Requirements and Qualifications:  

  • The successful candidate must possess a Law Degree from a recognized institution and membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
  • 3 to 7 years relevant experience 
  • Excellent communication, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Computer and data literacy as well as experience identifying process efficiency opportunities
  • Ability to work independently with a minimum of support resources while actively contributing to a multidisciplinary team
  • Committed, motivated, pragmatic, results-oriented, strong business acumen and collegial
